Sculpture

Ski and bicycle repair shops are full of interesting things—antique ski bindings, three-inch springs, epoxy and epoxy dye, chain rings, spokes, and of course those big round wheel rims—all perfect for making wall jewelry. The sculptures are held together via tension and gravity—no soldering or welding. Those are the parameters I set for construction. The colored components in the early wheels are made of stained epoxy. In the later ones, I used acrylic medium. I used copper mesh coated with gesso to create Phoenix’s bird head elements.
