The River
One of my favorite things to do is to hop on my bike and peddle down to the Potomac River with my watercolors and sketchbook.
One day (I kid you not) a viking longboat came sailing up the river around Indian Head. Most interestingly, once she got around the point, the red sail disappeared into the green of the trees, and for awhile, we couldn’t see her at all.
Rome
In Rome, we rented a little house in Monte Verde, a neighborhood up the hill from Trastevere. Trastevere was the original village on the Tiber River—there before the Romans built Rome.
